Lost in the Shuffle (2024 - 1h 40m)
Three Animated Segments
Working with Jon Onroy on the 2024 documentary Lost in the Shuffle was an incredible experience, where we had the opportunity to bring three distinct animated segments to life. Each segment offered a unique creative challenge and showcased different animation techniques, all contributing to the documentary’s compelling narrative.
The first segment features a striking black-and-white 2D animation in a classical, stylized approach, illustrating the historical significance of playing cards. This segment combines elegant linework with dynamic movement to evoke the rich history of cards across cultures.
Next, we created a puppet theater-inspired segment that mimics the flat, geometric style of playing cards. This piece blends medieval puppet theater aesthetics with a whimsical, playful tone, and was animated using Harmony, with characters rigged for puppet-style animation. The result is a visually engaging and historically grounded animation that complements the documentary’s themes of the familiar King, Jack and Queens from playing cards.
For the final segment, we embraced the challenge of replicating the classic stop-motion look of Rankin/Bass or The Little Prince. Using Blender, we recreated the iconic textures and techniques of traditional stop-motion animation in a 3D environment, achieving a nostalgic, tactile feel that adds depth and charm to the storytelling.
The final animated pieces are stunning and have become some of the standout moments of the documentary, adding both artistic beauty and emotional resonance to Lost in the Shuffle’s acclaimed narrative.

The Zoo follows the parallel lives of a polar bear cub in a popular city zoo and a Chinese boy who visits him until they’re both in their twilight years.

This music video was created for The Doll Sisters with funding from Telus and Public Records. The video contains a mash up of different animation techniques including, Live action, Stopmotion, After Effects and Traditional animation.
Lummels is a great adventure series from Holland for the theme park Efteling. Produced by the talented Ka-Ching Cartoons, Jesters Animation was responsible for the Builds, Posing and Animation for the 10 x 11min episodes of the series. The series has lots of great adventures throughout major events in history, and some really excellent animation!
